ABOUT

Vitrification is a 4-piece death-doom band from Northern Virginia formed back in 2019 by founding members JM (Lolth) and Annatar. Both of us were in high school and had recently fallen in love with the dark art of extreme metal. Initial inspirations were DEATH, SEPULTURA, and above all, MYTHIC. When we discovered a vinyl rip of "Mourning in the Winter Solstice," we knew we had to start a death-doom project to channel the energy of this oft-forgotten gem of the early '90s. We wrote some songs, scribbling down tabs and lyrics in the margins of our notebooks, drew a logo, and didn't get much further than that before life became too busy to continue.

The project was never officially put on hold, but it moved to the back burner while other things occupied our time. Eventually, when it came time to record a demo and begin work on playing gigs, Annatar decided to leave to focus on his solo project PRIMEVAL WANDERER. BB and GC were recruited to fulfill bass and drum duties, respectively. 2023 saw our first proper rehearsal, and 2024 saw the release of our first demo. Later in 2024, we performed our first set at OBLIVION FEST. Next is a plan for new recorded material followed by some local shows in the DMV area.
